Privacy
This policy explains what data 10K Steps uses, why we use it and what you can control. We do not sell your health or location data.

1. What 10K Steps is
10K Steps is an iOS walking app that shows daily activity, records dedicated walks, provides insights, completes eligible challenges, and offers optional leaderboard features. This policy applies to the 10K Steps app and website.
2. Information the app may use
Activity and health information
With your permission, 10K Steps reads step count and walking or running distance from Apple Health. We use this data to show your progress, create walk summaries and insights, and update eligible challenges. Apple does not tell apps when read access is denied, so 10K Steps may only know that the request was completed.
Motion information
If you choose iPhone-only tracking, the app may use motion and fitness data from your device to count steps and walking activity.
Location and routes
Location is optional and is requested only for features that need it, such as drawing a route during a dedicated walk. Precise routes are not shown on leaderboards. If route sharing is available, you control whether to share and may be able to hide the beginning and end of a route.
Photos
If you add photos to a dedicated walk, the app uses the photos you select or take for that walk. You may also choose a profile photo for leaderboard features. Profile photos are cropped and reduced in size, source metadata is removed, and Apple’s on-device sensitive-content analysis may check the processed image before upload. The original photo is not uploaded or retained by 10K Steps. Camera access is only requested when you choose to take a photo.
Account and community information
If you use account or leaderboard features, we may store a display name, avatar settings, country or public place choices, challenge progress, eligible leaderboard totals, and participation preferences. Leaderboard participation and place sharing are controllable in the app.
Purchases, device and diagnostics information
Apple processes App Store purchases. We may receive purchase status needed to unlock subscription features. The app may also collect app interaction events, device identifiers permitted by your settings, crash reports, and performance information to operate and improve the service.
3. How information is used
- Provide daily progress, dedicated walks, insights, challenges, widgets, and leaderboards.
- Save your settings and subscription access.
- Keep the service reliable, prevent abuse, and fix crashes.
- Understand broad feature usage and improve the product.
- Send notifications you have chosen to receive.
We do not use health information for advertising, and we do not sell health or precise location data.
4. Service providers
We may use providers such as Apple, Firebase, and app analytics or attribution services to deliver the app, process purchases, store account, leaderboard, or profile-photo data, measure performance, and understand acquisition. Profile photos are stored in Firebase Storage and are available only to authenticated app users through leaderboard features. Providers process information under their own terms and our instructions where applicable. Apple Health data is subject to Apple’s platform protections and is not uploaded for advertising.
5. Storage and retention
Some activity information and preferences may remain on your device. Account, leaderboard, challenge, purchase-status, and service data may be stored in cloud systems for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse. A selected profile photo is retained until it is replaced, removed, or the account is deleted; cached copies expire or are removed as devices manage storage. We remove or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can change Apple Health, Motion & Fitness, Location, Camera, Photos, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can record a dedicated walk without saving a route where the app offers that option.
- You can control leaderboard participation and public place sharing in the app.
- You can delete your account in the app from Settings. This removes your account and associated 10K Steps cloud and device data. Source data written by Apple Health remains in Health, and system permissions are not revoked.
- Deleting your 10K Steps account does not cancel an App Store subscription. You must manage or cancel the subscription separately through your Apple ID App Store settings.
- You can request access, correction, or export of eligible account information.
Depending on where you live, local law may give you additional data rights.
7. Children
10K Steps is not directed to children under the minimum digital-consent age in their country. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
8. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No system is completely secure. Service providers may process data in countries other than your own, subject to appropriate safeguards where required.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app develops. We will change the date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change is material.
